    Generally speaking, the heat energy generated by combustion of fuel (including diesel, heavy oil, natural gas, etc.) is adopted as the main energy for asphalt heating. The organic heat carrier (heat transfer oil) is heated up by the heat energy to carry out cyclic heat transfer of asphalt, so as to improve the temperature of asphalt. For convenience of energy access or due to special requirements of environmental protection, electric heating can also be adopted.

    Based on years of practices in asphalt storage industry, SDCC has designed a unique heat exchange system inside asphalt tank by applying thermodynamic principles, which has maximally increased asphalt heating efficiency, saved energy, reduced emissions, avoided repeated asphalt heating, and ensured the physical and chemical properties of asphalt.

    SDCCs heating technologies are widely applied in the projects like the asphalt storehouses at construction sites (end users), asphalt transit depots, and asphalt depots at ports, and are suitable for asphalt storage tanks of various forms and structures. The details are as follows:

    1. Tank-in-tank heating technology


    Tank-in-tank heating technology is to set a core heating tank at the center or the eccentric position of the storage tank bottom, thus dividing the storage tank into two heating zones  the internal heating zone and the external heating zone. The external heating zone is asphalt preheating zone (outside the core heating tank), and the internal heating zone is core heating zone (inside the core heating tank) and it is the asphalt output area. The technology takes advantage of the temperature gradient from the inside to the outside of the preheating zone and the temperature gradient from the top to the bottom of the core heating zone to achieve the effect of high efficiency and energy saving. This technology is generally applied to medium-sized asphalt storage tanks.





    2. Liquid-level tracking oil-suction technology


    Due to its special physical and chemical properties, asphalt exists in solid state at normal temperature. When its temperature exceeds 70 ℃, its state will change from viscoelastic state to liquid state, and its heat transfer mode will change to be convection-oriented. With the highest asphalt temperature at high liquid level, a big temperature gradient from top to bottom is formed in the tank. When floating suction line is used to pump asphalt, the asphalt suction inlet will drop synchronously with the lowering of the asphalt level, but always stay at the highest liquid level, thus achieving the purpose of high efficiency and energy saving. The floating suction line is suitable for asphalt storage tanks of various specifications.






    3. The technology of employing a built-in fast oil extractor


    Inside a large-sized storage tank, an integral and built-in fast oil extractor is set. As the oil extractor has strong heating capacity, the asphalt therein can reach the oil-extracting temperature in a short time, and at the same time, the asphalt in the preheating zone reaches into flow state, so as to replenish the fast oil extractor with asphalt and achieve fast and continuous extraction and dispensing of oil.






    4. Layered heating technology


    Layered heating technology is to segment vertically the asphalt in a storage tank into several zones (layers), and to heat up and extract asphalt layer by layer from top to bottom when it is not necessary to heat up and output the whole tank of asphalt. This technology is generally applied to large-sized asphalt storage tanks.





    5. Combined multifunctional asphalt heat exchange system


    By taking the actual functional requirements of asphalt tank into consideration, the above heating technologies can be flexibly combined. Such flexible combination and control can make an asphalt tank capable of not only fast extraction and small-amount dispensing of oil, but also large-amount storage and continuous extraction and dispensing of oil.
